There are thousands of tour and travel businesses you could work with. And in the Internet age, DIY travel is easier than ever. So why book with us? Won’t it be easier/cheaper/better to use somebody else?
Maybe. We don’t pretend to be the best in the world or the cheapest option out there. Some other tour companies have simpler processes and highly automated booking systems. But we believe that the personal touch is important to a successful international trip, especially in Indonesia. DIY travel is difficult here because a lot of local tour partners do not have a web presence at all, and if they do it’s not up to date. Outside of a few major cities you will have a hard time finding experiences that fit your travel plans.
The traditional method of finding local experiences is to work with a tour guide or a hotel concierge. In those situations you never really know if you are getting the best experience possible or the one that pays the hotel or tour company the biggest kickback. Our recommendations are all made based on personal experiences and recommendations from trusted local partners. We also evaluate all lodging, restaurants, and tour experiences from an American perspective. Indonesian travelers like full itineraries and lots of photo spots. Their assessment of suitable or comfortable lodging is often different than ours. They don’t receive the same attention from sellers and photo takers that white foreign visitors do.
All of this matters when planning a trip in Indonesia. We are ready to help you book a fantastic tour experience based on our own personal recommendations and relationships that we have built over the years.
How We Work
To get started, reach out to us with a booking inquiry based on a specific tour that you have seen on this website or a general destination that you would like to visit. For packaged tours, we will collect a 30% non-refundable booking deposit. We then confirm the details of your tour itinerary and finalize your total tour cost based on your choices. The balance of the tour payment is collected upon final confirmation of the itinerary. We use trusted international payment processors for all transactions. In accordance with Indonesian law, all payments are denominated in Indonesian Rupiah, but we provide USD conversions for all pricing.
In the event that some elements of the tour are closed or inaccessible we will work to substitute a similar experience. The major cost components of our tours are lodging and domestic travel so we do not offer refunds once you have begun your trip. If you cancel after making complete payment but before you travel, we will work to refund any costs that we can recover. As a small business working with local partners, we cannot always refund the full cost, but we will do our best to refund as much of your payment (minus the deposit) as possible.
We recommend that all visitors to Indonesia purchase travel insurance to cover trip costs in the event of an emergency and to provide medical care if needed. We can provide recommendations if needed.
