Batik Artistry Tour

Batik Artistry Tour

Our flagship tour takes you to two of the most incredible locations in Indonesia, Bali and Yogyakarta (Jogja). While other Batik fabric tours focus on Bali, we include a detour to Jogja, considered by many to be the heart of Batik fabric in Indonesia. With a unique arts culture and amazing prices, this adds unique experiences and tremendous value to your tour. Because of the tighter schedule, we arrange all lodging for this trip, so the price is inclusive of all lodging and local travel. Once you arrive in Bali, we take care of the rest.

Day 1: Journey to Ubud

After your arrival in Bali, we head to a secluded resort in Ubud. We enjoy some local scenery and a trip to the Sacred Monkey Forest before settling in at the resort. The evening includes a welcome dinner and spa options as we kick off our grand adventure.

Day 2: Artisan Tour

Day two is spent exploring the local artisans around central Bali. Visits to local carvers, weavers, Batik makers, and jewelry makers provide multiple opportunities to see the unique artistry of Indonesia and purchase some special items. We also visit some natural wonders with a trip to the rice terraces and a nearby waterfall. We return in the evening for a local dance performance before ending the day.

Day 3: Cooking Class and Travel to Jogja

We begin Day 3 with a trip to a local cooking class to learn about Indonesian ingredients and techniques as we participate in cooking our amazing Indonesian lunch. We then travel to Yogyakarta to start the second leg of our tour. After arriving at our resort we enjoy a seafood dinner together before preparing for the next day.

Day 4: Batik Stamping and Prambanan

We start the day with a visit to a local Batik factory where we can stamp our own Batik creations and see the whole process of creating Batik fabric. We spend some time shopping at the Batik and antique shops in the area before heading to Prambanan temple complex for an amazing sunset dinner experience. We return to the resort after dark for an open evening.

Day 5: Silversmith and Malioboro

Our day begins with a trip to a silversmith where we can create our own silver jewelry and purchase handmade items from the shop. We enjoy lunch at a scenic restaurant before heading over to Jalan Malioboro for souvenir and fabric shopping. The prices here are incredible, so this is where we recommend buying most general items to bring back, especially Batik fabric. Our last night at the resort is open to enjoy the services offered on the property.

Day 6: Borobudur and Back to Bali

Our final day in Jogja starts with a morning trip to Borobudur temple. After exploring the grounds and the surrounding area, we return to Bali. After settling in to our beach hotel, we enjoy a Balinese dance and dinner.

Day 7: Batik Artwork and Weaving

Day 7 is focused on textile arts as we begin the day creating fabric art using the Batik method at a local artisan’s workshop. We continue on to a local shop where we learn about traditional weaving and see amazing pieces that were locally crafted using indigenous methods and materials. We return to the hotel in the evening for an open program to enjoy shopping and food or relax on the beach.

Day 8: Local Market and Farewell

Our final day begins at the local market as you hunt down some final souvenirs and keepsakes or you can choose to soak up one last spa treatment at one of the many amazing spas in Bali. We celebrate an unforgettable tour with a farewell lunch and appreciation gift before you continue on to your next destination.
